The town police of Bohumin was established by the general mandatory notice of the municipal council in 1st of April, 1992 as an independent organizational entity of the city of Bohumin, and its task is to assure local matters of public policy within the town competence.

The police station is situated in a building of the Town hall, Masarykova street 158, and is equipped by  computer technology where daily tasks and activities are processed, further it’s equipped by a camera monitoring system mastering motion of 14 cameras installed in places with high rate of crime, and by a centralized security control desk where some town subjects are monitored and watched. Further equipment is telecommunication technology. Police patrols are equipped and supported by walkie-talkies of Motorola brand with its own reserved frequency, the wireless transmission from walkie-talkies and speech correspondence on the emergency call 156 and state fixed extensions are transferred to a recording system REDAT for a record, archiving and following processing of acquired data.

Next basic devices such as video-camera, video-recorder, photo-camera etc. too have possibility to prove by evidence some events, cases and incidents belong to the command centre equipment. Premises in front of the police station are constantly monitored.

To be able to intervene immediately in case of disturbance of guarded objects, announcement of  life, health or property threat, the police are provided by three cars of Opel Astra and Skoda Fabia (service in Rychvald). In terms of a state grant of crime prevention, the police patrols were equipped by two trekking and two mountain bikes to keep better mobility and contact with citizens in fringe districts.

At present the police staff includes 36 employees - two of them assure civil material support and cleaning, a police director, a vice director and 32 policemen who assure patrol services and dispatching control in four twelve-hour-patrol services. The patrol service is executed on the base of a statutory contract in Rychvald as well.

In the area of prevention and crime reduction the police of Bohumin cooperate closely with the Police of CR and immediately hand over all necessary findings.
