Transport

The city of Bohumin is known as an “important railway junction”, that is positively displayed in its accessibility by train connections and in its possibility to connect Bohumin with the entire Czech Republic, as well as Poland and Slovakia.

 

Buses

Urban traffic service (MHD) doesn’t exist in Bohumin. The role of MHD (connection among particular town districts) is provided by suburban traffic and the following bus lines:

  •  870 555 Bohumín – Ostrava
    This bus line starts from  Svoboda square in Stary Bohumin and finishes at the Central Bus Station (UAN) in Ostrava. The total distance of the route is 18 km and includes 23 bus-stops. The bus line passes through Stary Bohumin – Novy Bohumin (in two strands – see the Timetable) – Pudlov – Vrbice – Ostrava-Hrusov – Ostrava-centre and finishes at UAN.
  • 870 557 Bohumín – Rychvald – Orlová
    The bus line starts from the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin, continues through a local district Bohumin-Zablati, via Rychvald to Orlova-Poruba and finishes at the Bus Station in Orlova-Lutyne. The total distance of the route is 15 km and includes 22 bus-stops.
  • 870 559 Bohumín – Dolní Lutyně - Orlová
    The bus line starts from the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin, continues through a local district Skrecon, than passes through the road I/67 in Dolni Lutyne, Detmarovice and finishes at the Bus Station in Orlova-Lutyne. The total distance of the route is 10 km and includes 17 bus-stops.
  • 870 560 Bohumín – Dolní Lutyně – Orlová
    The bus line starts from the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin, continues through a local district Skrecon and to Dolni Lutyne, here it continues via 3rd class road ( III/ 468 12). Next following route is identical with the bus line No. 870 559. The total distance of the route is 11 km and includes 20 bus-stops.
  • 870 558 Bohumín - Petřvald - Orlová
    The bus line starts again from the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin, continues through a local district Bohumin-Zablati, via Rychvald and the outskirts of Petrvald, via Orlova-Poruba and finishes at the Bus Station in Orlova. The total distance of the route is 19 km and includes 27 bus-stops.
  • 870 565 Bohumín – Dolní Lutyně
    The bus line starts from the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin, goes downtown and continues through the local districts Sunychl, Kopytov, Skrecon-Nova Ves, Skrecon. Further continues to Dolni Lutyne and finishes in Dolni Lutyne-Vernovice. The total distance of the route is 11 km and includes 23 bus-stops.
  • 870 546 Bohumín - Dolní Lutyně - Dětmarovice - Karviná
    The longest suburban traffic line has 27 km and includes 37 bus-stops. The bus line starts again from the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin, continues through a local district Bohumin-Zablati, stops ones in Rychvald, continues to Dolni-Lutyne, Detmarovice, passes via all Karvina and finishes at the Bus Station in Karvina.

All the bus lines, except the bus line Bohumin – Ostrava, starts or finishes at the Bus Station in Novy Bohumin (in the town centre). This bus-stop is the most convenient regarding bus changes and connections. This bus-stop is the second most frequently used which is Novy Bohumin – Railway station with possibility to connect it with the train traffic. The suburban traffic in Bohumin is assured by a forwarder CSAD Karvina.

  

Trains

Bohumin is a significant European railway junction. From Bohumin starts the line No.270  - connection to Ostrava, Prerov, Olomoc and Prague. Further via Prerov the line leads to Brno (No.300), Breclav (No.330) and next to Slovakia or Austria etc. Hereafter in Bohumin starts the international line No.320 (via Karvina, Cesky Tesin) to Cadca, Slovakia. An individual train connection is available from Bohumin to Poland either (Chalupki. Ratiborz, Katowice). Motor-vehicle traffic

With the surrounding towns Bohumin is connected via highway (direction to Ostrava is already open, the segment from Bohumin to Poland is still under the course of construction) and the first-rate roads I/58 (Ostrava, Poland) and I/67 (Karvina).

On a bike

The international cycle-lane goes through Bohumin and both Czech and Polish borders (in CR it is No. 56). Directly in Bohumin leads this above mentioned cycle-lane through Stary Bohumin, Sunychl, Nova Ves and Skrecon. From the square of Stary Bohumin the lane No.6109 leads to Pudlov towards the Antosovice footbridge (bridge over the river Odra) and continues to Ostrava. Inside the town and to its outskirts many local cycle-lanes marked as A, B, C or D lead. The most important intersection of these lanes is at the Aquacentre, Kopernik street.

The nearest international airport is The Leos Janacek Airport situated in Mosnov. Its distance from Bohumin is 30 km.
